Editor's Note
The construction date and patron of the building, located among the fields to the east of the town, are unknown. One study notes that Çataloluk (formerly known as Sis) was for a time the seat of the Armenian Catholicosate, and that there was a medieval Monastery of the Apostles and a school here. There is no information about the location of the church mentioned in that publication or whether it has survived. For this reason it could not be determined whether the present church belonged to the Monastery of the Apostles. The building has a cruciform plan with a long western arm and an eastern end arranged as a triconchos (three-leaved trefoil).
