Tire çamur peyniri is a spreadable cheese from the Tire, Bayındır and Ödemiş area of İzmir. Made from cow, sheep or goat milk, it layers tulum cheese with unsalted curd between the layers, which ferment together into a muddy softness. The word çamur, meaning mud, describes exactly that texture. The cheese is still awaiting a geographical indication.
