About & Methodology
Effective: as of the publication date
Kahve Tabela is a free discovery project that gathers Turkey's brown-sign historic and cultural places onto a single map. This page explains how we produce the content and where the data comes from.
In short: place and photo data are compiled from open sources, and the guide notes and audio are AI-assisted. The content is not an original work of ours. For corrections or removal requests, use the 'Let's fix this together' link in the app or email kvkk@kahvetabela.com.
1. How we gather the data
Place records (name, location, category, province/district) are compiled automatically from open sources: Kültür Envanteri, OpenStreetMap, Wikidata, and the open data of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
These sources are merged, province/district is derived from coordinates, and duplicates are pruned. The data is not real-time; it is a snapshot at a point in time and may contain incomplete or out-of-date records.
2. Photos and copyright
Images come from their sources: Kültür Envanteri, Wikimedia Commons, Google Places, and OpenStreetMap contributors. Each photo states its source.
Photos from Kültür Envanteri are credited and linked to Kültür Envanteri both on the photo and in the place's source row. If you hold the copyright to an image and want it removed, it will be removed on request.
3. Guide notes and audio
Each place's guide note, highlights and short narrative are generated with AI assistance from the compiled open data. These are not academic sources or verbatim quotes; they are informational and may contain errors.
The audio guide is produced by voicing these texts with text-to-speech (TTS) technology.
4. Did we write the content?
No. The content is not our original research or work; it is an aggregation compiled automatically from open sources and edited with AI.
Data sources are stated clearly both on the homepage and on every place page. Our aim is to make this heritage accessible in one place, not to replace the sources.
5. Corrections and removal
If you spot something wrong or incomplete, or want a photo or place removed, reach us via the 'Let's fix this together' link on any place page or at kvkk@kahvetabela.com. We review requests promptly.
