Boyoz is an unleavened pastry that Sephardic Jews, who settled in Anatolia in 1492, brought into the İzmir kitchen. Over time it fused so fully with the city's taste that it is now bound up with its breakfast. It holds a geographical indication under the name İzmir Boyozu.
