Editor's Note
The Ahmet Ratib Paşa Mansion in Acıbadem, Üsküdar, Istanbul was commissioned by Ahmet Ratib Paşa from the architect Kemalettin Bey. It is one of the noteworthy buildings of the National Architecture period pioneered by Mimar Kemalettin and Vedat Tek. The mansion is estimated to have begun construction around 1904, continuing until 1908. By 1909, when the building was completed, Sultan Abdülhamid II had been deposed. Ahmet Ratib Paşa, a confidant of the sultan, was arrested, and all of his property, including this mansion, was confiscated.
