Editor's Note
It stands where Burhaniye Abdullah Ağa Street meets Enveriye Street, at the left corner of the latter. This is a small marketplace. At the end of Karış Street, opposite the mosque, on the ridge, stood the mansion of Halid Ağa, the Chief Eunuch of the Imperial Harem, and this street was therefore named Halid Ağa Street. The Ağa has a fountain in Kadıköy dated 1209 (1794). The village of Burhaniye was founded when refugees of the 1293 (1876) Ottoman–Russian War were settled here. The immigrants were all extremely poor people who had come from Bulgaria. For this reason, the village was first named Muhacir Köyü (Refugee Village).
