The lodge on Gazi Avenue in the Selami Ali district was brought into operation by Selâmi Ali Efendi, who was also its first sheikh, founded the Selâmiyye branch of the Celvetiyye order, and served as head of the Celvetiyye central lodge. The lodge was overhauled during the time of Sheikh Ahmet Muhtar Efendi (d. 1896) and burned down entirely in a fire in 1917. After the fire, during the term of the lodge's last sheikh Abdülmacid Efendi and of Şeyhülislam Hayri Efendi as Minister of Pious Foundations, the Foundations administration handed over the site of this lodge to the tramway authority, which built a garage there.
