Editor's Note

In 1839 the Halid Ağa Fountain, restored by Sultan Abdülmecid, was renamed the Abdülmecid Han Fountain. In 1902 it was moved to its present location in Haydarpaşa, and over time the fountain came to lie below road level. In 2018, within the scope of the "Marmaray Project Gebze-Halkalı Suburban Line Improvement," the "Haydarpaşa Station Archaeological Excavations" were launched in the area of Haydarpaşa Train Station under the supervision of the Istanbul Archaeology Museums. During the excavations, the inscription of the Halid Ağa Fountain was found at the fountain's original site before it had been moved.
