Editor's Note
Construction date: AH 1092 / 1681-1682 CE. The first inscription, on the side of the fountain, reads: How fine this sweet, alluring water, that has quenched the thirsty-hearted; may God grant the patron of good works her reward in the Garden of Eden and the Abode of Refuge. On seeing it I gave its date: the fountain of the radiant water of life. The repair inscription on the front facade reads: This is the fountain restored for the second time by the patron of good works and charity, one of the senior officials of the Sublime State, the inspector of the Tenth Municipal District tradesmen, Es-Seyyid El-Hac Faik Bey, on the first of holy Ramadan. The fountain stands on the Istanbul-Damascus-Baghdad road along the Üsküdar-Bostancıbaşı Derbendi route.
