Editor's Note
The Şerefabad Pavilion water distribution chamber (also known as the Doğancılar Maksem) was built between 1728 and 1729 by Grand Vizier Damat İbrahim Paşa, who commissioned the Kayseri architect Mehmet Ağa to supply water to the Şerefabad Pavilion. Although its primary purpose was to meet the pavilion's water needs, it is known to have also fed several nearby fountains. Octagonal in plan, the chamber was built with one course of cut marble and two courses of brick bonding. It is covered by a lead-clad dome and encircled entirely by a marble inscription band.
