Editor's Note
The police-post building on Abdullah Ağa Avenue, demolished in 1988 and its grounds turned into a park, was registered as a protected monument (registration no. 173) by the Real Estate Antiquities and Monuments Board in 1971. On this plot now laid out as a park stood the Nakkaş Baba Police Post [Haskan 2001: III. 1277]. This single-story masonry building, probably built during the reign of Sultan Abdülmecid, was needlessly torn down by the Istanbul Municipality in 1988. The post, which housed artillery and infantry soldiers, also held a battery of cannon.
