Editor's Note
It is said to have stood between Kuzguncuk and Beylerbeyi, across from the Nakkaşbaba police post, near the left corner of Kuzguncuk Gazhanesi Street. As its inscription reveals, the fountain was built in 1239 (1823) by a philanthropist named Hacı Ahmed Efendi. Square in plan, the fountain's spout section is of marble while the rest is of neatly cut stone. The top of its reservoir was designed as an open-air prayer ground and its interior as a room. Between the columns on either side of the fountain were its basin, a mirror stone enriched with carvings, and above it the fountain's inscription.
