Editor's Note
Located on the block at the intersection of Şemsettin Günaltay Avenue and Tüccarbaşı Street, it consists of three separate buildings whose construction date and architect are not precisely known. These buildings comprise the Harem (private) Wing, the Selamlık (reception) Wing, and the mansion T. Gezeryan built for his own daughter. Kabasakal Mehmet Pasha served as chief intelligence officer during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II; after the March 31 uprising was suppressed, he was arrested and sent to Istanbul.
