Küçükyalı ArkeoPark is the only active urban archaeological excavation site on the Asian side of Istanbul. In the late 1950s, the Küçükyalı archaeological site was identified as the first palace built in the Byzantine period in the 9th century and bearing Islamic influences. However, no detailed studies of the site were carried out after the 1950s.
