Examined in 1980, the structure has a rectangular plan, and its roof, resting on spolia columns bearing monograms at their centres, consists of 42 domes. The spolia column capitals are said to show 5th-century characteristics. Today the cistern, now surrounded by poured concrete and lying beneath the road surface, can be entered through two well mouths.
