The cistern at the corner of Nöbethane Street and Dervişler Lane was uncovered in 1966 during a foundation excavation carried out under the supervision of the Istanbul Archaeology Museums. With its rectangular plan and barrel-vaulted spaces, the cistern is entirely lined with waterproof plaster. The paving on its floor indicates that it was also used during the Ottoman period. The structure, which has survived intact, was placed under protection by board decision in the basement of the business premises built over it.
