Editor's Note
The French officer Claude Alexandre, Comte de Bonneval, who came to Istanbul in the 18th century at the sultan's invitation, took the name Ahmed after converting to Islam and joined the Mevlevi order; after his death he was buried in the Hamuşan Cemetery at the Galata Mevlevi Lodge. The bust stands in the garden of the French Palace.
