More than one underground structure is shown in this area, which is mentioned in Ottoman-period sources and marked on the Pervititch maps. Today the cellar is accessed through an iron door in the basement of the Melek İş Hanı. The cellar consists of long corridors with barrel vaults and ventilation shafts that extend as far as beneath the Hoca Kasım Günani Mescidi. It is clear that the structure has undergone many repairs.
