Editor's Note
Date of construction: AH 1189 / AD 1775. Its inscriptions read: Recâî Mehmed, the trusted statesman, lord of generosity, whose person became the joy of the office of defterdar; for the sake of God he created this fountain and school—there is no doubt that he thereby earned the favor of the Truth. As the children of the age recite his prayer by heart like flowing water, may this enduring good deed be a source of relief in both worlds.
