Editor's Note
It was built to the south of this complex as the bathhouse of the Fâtih Külliyesi, which was constructed between 867-875 (1462-1470). In the Fâtih endowment deed, after the sentence "For the needs of the people he had baths built and endowed them all for his charitable works," the baths are named, and the Çukur Hamam is the one referred to in the entry "another is the bath located near the noble mosque he newly had built." According to Sultan Bayezid's water-supply map, it stood to the north of the Karadeniz Başkurşunlu Medrese and about 100 m below it.
