Editor's Note
Date of construction: AH 1235 / AD 1819-1820. It was built in 1819 by Surreemini İsmail Ağa, one of the head gatekeepers of the Janissary corps. Its inscription reads: Benefactor and doer of good, Chief of the Gatekeepers of the Sublime Court, Custodian of the Imperial Surre, el-Hâc İsmail Ağa. It was restored by Fatih Municipality in 2022.
