Editor's Note
One of Istanbul's oldest Mevlevi and Nakşi lodges, the Abid Çelebi Lodge operated as a Sa'di lodge in its final period. The dervish lodge was built by Âbid Çelebi, a descendant of Mevlâna, first as a small mosque and then with an adjoining Mevlevi house. The two-story timber lodge had eight rooms, four in the lower-floor harem section and four in the upper-floor selamlık section, along with a very large ritual hall adjoining the lower vestibule. As Âbid Çelebi had also received the Nakşibendî mantle, Nakşi rites were performed at the lodge on Thursday nights and the Mevlevi ceremony on Friday nights.
