Editor's Note
Construction date: 1226 AH / 1811–1812 CE. Upper inscription: A wellspring of grace and generosity, named Seyyid Halîl Ağa, a hero of the field of valor, a discerning gazi; remembering the plight of the thirsty of Karbala, he spent all his ready wealth and made this fountain his enduring mark. This pleasant water is a healing draught for the thirsty who drink it; it overflows from the stream of Selsebil and the basin of Kevser. Having drunk of its water, Fürûgî spoke its date: ever and again this sweet water flows like Selsebil. Middle inscription: The fountain of Gürcü Mehemmed Pasha was ancient in this place. Much time had passed; it had become ruin upon ruin. Not a trace remained of its delicious water here.
