Editor's Note
Its founder was Hâce Hubyar Bey (Hoca Üveys Pasha). It was built in the early 16th century. The mosque's minbar (pulpit) was installed by Grand Vizier Şehla Ahmet Pasha. Ayvansarayi notes that it had its own neighborhood. In the Prime Ministry Republican Archives, a decision dated 06.02.1929 shows that the plot on which the Hobyar Mosque, its timekeeper's lodge, and its outbuildings stood was transferred to the municipality to be incorporated into the grounds of Cerrahpaşa Hospital.
