French soldiers who died during the Crimean War were buried in this cemetery. In 1887, Captain Léon Berger, the Military Attaché at the French Embassy, arranged for the bones of the 6 officers and 10,500 soldiers lying here to be moved to the section reserved for soldiers in the Feriköy Catholic-Latin Cemetery.
