Editor's Note
Holding an important place in the history of Istanbul's public transport, the Şişli Depot opened in 1912. The emergence of transport options in the Şişli area played a significant role in the district's development. Opened as a stable and depot for horse-drawn trams, the building was used in later years as a depot for electric trams. Converted into a bus depot in 1948 with the addition of workshops, the depot saw the establishment of Turkey's first psychotechnical laboratory in 1952, where motormen, drivers, and conductors began receiving training. From 1961 onward, trolleybuses were stored at the depot.
