Editor's Note
The Hançerli Bathhouse (hamam) is located in the Ayvansaray quarter of Istanbul's Fatih district. Also known as the Hançerli Sultan Bathhouse, it was commissioned in the early 16th century by Fatma Sultan. A registered cultural property, it is today in a ruined state and has largely lost its original architecture.
