Editor's Note
This is a Melami/Bayrami lodge founded by Şeyh Mehmet Efendi of Belgrade, known as Lâgarî (d. AH 1093 / 1682). The lodge, which later passed to the Bektashi order, finally passed to the Sa'di order under Mehmed Sadeddin Efendi. The lodge was renewed in 1836 by Mahmud II. With the outbreak of the First World War a military unit was stationed in its wooden selamlık and ceremonial hall, so it fell into ruin; its wooden selamlık and tevhidhane were demolished in the 1920s, and its two-story, eight-room harem section in 1980. Only its ruins and its burial ground have survived from the lodge.
