Editor's Note
Date of construction: AH 1207 / AD 1792. Its inscription: His Excellency, the pride of the Anatolian chief justice, Ebûbekir Ağa, who is eternally renowned for his charitable works through his efforts. Near the resting place of Hazret-i Hâlid he built this lovely fountain for God's sake, with sincere intent and without falsehood. Its water is so pure and life-giving that, should Hızr drink of it, he would confess it to be the water of life. Drinking it like zemzem, may those thirsting for mercy pray for its builder as they circumambulate that lodge. With jeweled water, O Vehbi, the chronogram too was written: Ebubekir Ağa has truly brought forth pure water.
