In the early 20th century, the building on Barış Manço Avenue was commissioned from the Sultan Mahmut Foundation together with a waterside mansion to its south—since replaced by a reinforced-concrete building—and this coffeehouse. Later purchased by İsmail Ağa, this Bosphorus Shore Coffeehouse has been altered and repaired many times so that almost nothing of the original survives. İsmail Ağa's heirs continue to run it, and today it is a popular spot for drinking tea and enjoying the famous Kanlıca yogurt.
