The Church of Aya (Sveti) Spiridon, no longer standing today, was the most important of the Bulgarian churches in Kırklareli. As a cathedral church, Aya (Sveti) Spiridon was built in 1871 in the Soğukkuyu district of the Tellakzade (Akalar) Neighbourhood. Because the Bulgarian community living in the Tellakzade Neighbourhood had no place of worship, it was built on land belonging to a local resident named Kriyan, with his consent, and financed by 13 members of the Bulgarian community.
