Editor's Note
During floor renovations at the old house at No. 658 Istanbul Avenue in Karacaköy, a gravestone came to light. Inscribed in Greek letters, it read: "Here lies Chrysoula Rodaki, servant of God, March 1887." Yet in the title-deed archive the house was registered to 1952. As it turned out, the Georgiadis family, expelled in the population exchange, had been sent to northern Greece, and the vacated house was settled by the Kırım family, who had come from Crimea.
