Editor's Note
It was built during the reign of the Armenian Bagratuni dynasty. The two-storey bridge was constructed over the Arpaçay River, which marks the border between Turkey and Armenia. It stands at the first point where the historic Silk Road enters Anatolia. The ground floor of the two-storey bridge was used for the passage of caravans, while the upper floor was used by pedestrians and soldiers. The body of the bridge has completely collapsed, and only its piers survive today.
