Editor's Note
It is located in the center of the Sarıkamış district of Kars province. It was built as a church in the late 19th century during the era of Tsarist Russian control of the region. The rectangular, three-doored building served as a community house in the early years of the Republic and later as a cinema. After a major fire in the late 1970s it became known as the "Burnt Church" and fell into ruin. It has since been restored and is now used as a mosque.
