Editor's Note
Its inscription is unreadable, though the date and name '1291 Naib Eşref' can be made out. It is accepted as having been built in the 13th century. Its conical cap was renewed in 1972, and in 1990 the shops crowding around it were cleared away. It was restored by the General Directorate of Foundations in the 2000s. The tomb has two later inscriptions. The one above the eastern window reads '... Fi sühur-i cemaziel-evvel ...'. The naskh script points to the 13th century. On the western face is a three-line Arabic inscription bearing the decree of the Mamluk Sultan Qansuh al-Ashraf, dated 1486 AD.
