Editor's Note
The Hacı Himmetli Mosque is a historic place of worship in the Şarkışla district of Sivas. The building was constructed between Hijri 1327 and 1909-1910 CE and is an Ottoman-period work. The most original part of the mosque to survive is the section covered by a wooden trough vault ceiling. At the four corners of this ceiling, the Ayet-el Kürsi (Throne Verse) is written in white Arabic letters on a blue ground. The ceiling also features diamond patterns, floral ornamentation, and a central medallion with a hanging wooden ornament. The mosque underwent extensive repair and expansion in 1974.
