The museum opened to visitors following the restoration of the historic Polatpaşa Mansion, the birthplace and childhood home of Lieutenant General Osman Fazıl Polat Pasha, known as the "Conqueror of Famagusta" in the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation. Arranged as the pasha's memorial house, this historic mansion was built in 1921. Since the pasha was born in 1922 in the village then called Tuzla (now Polatpaşa) in Şarkışla, he spent his childhood and youth in this mansion.
