Editor's Note
The Armenian Church, located just southeast of the government building in the Yeni quarter, was built of regular cut stone on a rectangular plan measuring 12 x 15 m. The flat, earth-covered roof is supported by 52 wooden beams. The interior partitions of the church were made of rubble stone, and in recent times it was converted into a prison by adding an 8 x 9 m annex to the courtyard of the entrance gate on its northwest side. The structure, whose inscription has been destroyed, was probably built in the 16th century.
