Although the Kara Behlül Bey Mosque has no definite building inscription, the sources record that it was built in the second half of the 16th century, during the governorship of İskender Pasha (1561-1575), by Kara Behlül Bey, the administrator of Silvan. The mosque's minaret was built at a later date, in 1899-1900. The structure has a square plan and is set on a central scheme. The roof is provided by a dome with a polygonal drum and a pyramidal cap. Inside, the dome is reached by way of an octagonal transition zone; this arrangement bears similarities to Akkoyunlu architecture.
