According to its inscription, it was built by the Artuqid ruler Necmeddin Alpi (1152-76). It has four aisles parallel to the mihrab. The area before the mihrab, three aisles wide, has a dome on squinch transitions; the three bays immediately north of the mihrab area have cross vaults, and all the other aisles are covered with pointed-arch-profiled barrel vaults. Its mihrab was commissioned in 1227 by the Ayyubid Emir Şahabeddin. A second mihrab was added in the 15th century.
