In fact, the Ottoman forces' persistent pursuit had paid off. Han Piri, the vizier of the false Shah İsmail, had been taken captive. According to the information he gave, Şah İsmayıl of the Şam Bayadlı set out with three hundred Kızılbaş Turkmens toward a village called Adana, came to the Ciyelioğlu tent, and after staying there for a few days went on to Erguvan. During his stay there, with the support of the Rişvan, Bezki, and Cihanbeyli communities and the followers he had gathered, he laid siege to Malatya, and a great clash broke out in the village of Almalı between him and Abdikendu, one of the men of the Malatya judge.
