As documentation work carried out in Develi's Zile neighborhood has revealed, the Alemiberzak Cemetery is a deep-rooted historic site that contains gravestones dated to the 15th and 16th centuries, although its exact founding date is unknown. The fact that Zile is recorded as a village belonging to Develi in the Ottoman-era Hurufat register of 1757 shows that the cemetery has been in continuous use since early times. The architectural fabric of the cemetery is striking for the presence of gravestone types from different periods side by side.
