Editor's Note
The Melede Fountain was most likely built in the second half of the 19th century. With a single arch and a freestanding arrangement, the structure presents a plain facade marked by a round arch that rests on the fountain wall at the sides. The trough within the fountain niche is not original and belongs to a later period. The inscription in the upper part of the niche wall is carved into black basalt stone, but today it cannot be read. The absence of a mirror stone reinforces the building's plain character, while the slightly projecting eaves stand out as the only architectural element defining the upper part.
