Somuncu Baba, that is, Sheikh Hamiduddin Aksarayi, was born in Kayseri in 1331 and died in Aksaray in 1412. He is known for delivering the inaugural sermon at the Grand Mosque in Bursa, after which he chose a life away from the public eye. His most important successor was Hacı Bayram-ı Veli. Although there are differing accounts about his grave, he has tombs in both Aksaray and Darende in Malatya. 1
