Editor's Note
It is known that there was a fortress in Elbistan during Seljuk times. This fortress lay behind the Grand Mosque in the city center, and the area is still called "the fortress" (kala) today. Traces of a Seljuk palace have been found in this fortress, as well as the remains of a Seljuk bathhouse. The Seljuk maliks and governors resided here. 1
