Editor's Note
The Church of Saint George, also known as the Ishotya Church, located in the Doğancı district, was built between 1857 and 1860. The inscription that recorded this, originally above the entrance door, is now kept in the Isparta Museum. Oriented east-west, the building has a rectangular plan with three naves, an apse and a narthex. Its outer walls are built of the local stone known as kövke. It has an entrance on the west, north and south sides. Above the north entrance is a projecting canopy resting on two columns. The building's roof is covered with a cross vault of kövke stone, and the differing heights of the naves can be seen in the roofline. The narthex is in two parts.
