Editor's Note
Kemikli Bedesten: Built in the 19th century (1865) by the mufti Hacı Osman Efendi, this bedesten contains 72 shops. The Kemikli Bedesten is a rectangular structure of cut stone, made up of two sections each measuring 15 by 60. Although locals came to call it Kemikli ("Bony") Bedesten because bones were found during the foundation excavations, its real name is the Mecidiye Bedesteni. The bedesten, whose roof is oval in shape, has two entrances each in its eastern and western sections. Source: Republic of Turkey.
