Editor's Note
The Zincirli Bedesten was built in the first quarter of the 18th century by Darendeli Hüseyin Paşa, and is known among locals as the "Kara Basamak Bedesteni." The historic structure, also called the Meat Hall because it long housed butchers, now offers an authentic setting for traders, especially spice merchants and sellers of touristic goods, with 73 shops ranging from 10 to 25 square meters, following restoration work carried out by the Regional Directorate of Foundations. The bedesten has five gates. The author of the four-line inscription on the south gate is Kusuri.
