Editor's Note
Aya Kapi refers to a set of city-wall gates, distinguished as old and new, located on the Golden Horn Walls running along the Golden Horn shore of Istanbul. The Byzantine-era gate is called the Old Aya Gate, while the gate opened in the wall after the conquest of Istanbul is known as the New Aya Gate. Most of the New Aya Gate has been destroyed, and only part of it survives today.
