Story
Haştırın Castle is a strategic fortress located in the mountainous geography of Andırın that held sway over the region for centuries. Its walls, rebuilt at different times by the Byzantine, Seljuk, and Ottoman civilizations, are a living witness to Anatolian defensive architecture. The panoramic views that open from its towers lay bare not only the natural beauty but also the geostrategic importance of the region; the architectural layers of ancient civilizations can be made out in its walls, where stone was piled upon stone. The fact that the castle was positioned near a water source shows how thoughtful past defenders were.
